About us

Our story begins in 2014, when we re-planted a vineyard on our old family estate. The estate stretches over three hectares, and our wine and other products are named In Sylvis (lat. In forests). The village in which we grew up and where the vineyard is located was named after the monastery that history remembers as Monasterium Sancti Petri in Sylvis (en. The Monastery of St. Petar in the Forests) - hence the name of our wines and products. Somewhat distant from the village itself, our estate is surrounded by nature and a peaceful feeling that only a forest can provide. Out of this feeling of tranquility our vision emerged: we are set to lend all the best that the Istrian soil has to offer and with immeasurable love and dedication produce wine that will enchant you with its personality, taste, and smell.

As a symbol of our love, and our love for wine, nature and the Istrian land, this vineyard represent only the beginning of what we plan to build. We intent to expand the vineyard and olive grove, and turn our estate into an oasis in which everyone can find rest and shelter from the hectic modern life.

Vineyard

Our vineyard is located in the heart of Istrian peninusla, in the village of Sveti Petar u Šumi. Somewhat distancedfrom the village, it is surrounded with nature and tranquility of forest. More than 5800 vines of Istrian Malvasia are planeted on 1, 2 hectares of land. The cultivation method is a traditional single Istrian guyot that gives grapes of high quality and controlled yields. This, in combination with traditional cultivation method and Mediterranean climate provided by vicinity of Lim Valley, results in a unique terroir of central Istria that characterizes In Sylvis's wines.

In addition to grapevine, 15 olives of Istrian bjelica, 15 fig trees, as well as shrubs of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, lavender, and rosemary were planted. Every year, we enrich our estate with new fruit and vegetable species that we use to produce other domestic natural products.

White wine of yellow to green color, with intense fruit aromas of apricot, pear, and with a light floral aroma. Dry wine with full taste and solid body. Pleasant freshness and long duration.

Do you wish to visit us, taste our wine or drop by to see our forest vineyard? Wine tasting sessions are held daily, with prior announcement, for individuals and groups of up to 30 people. On weekdays the tastings are held in the afternoon hours, but during the weekend they are held throughout the day. The wine offer includes In Sylvis Istrian Malvasia and Florens rose, as well as matured malvasia Arbor (lat. wood) and Arbor teran and special sweet dessert wine made using dried wine grapes in the passito method and extra virgin olive oil. In October 2017 we added a new, special wine to our list, the In Sylvis Arbor... the time spent in barrels gave our Arbor Malvasia wooden notes of vanilla and hazelnuts that did not cover the varietal aromas of the Malvazia Istrian
